The Davenant Institute’s program “Congregational Life in a Digital Age” equips congregational leaders throughout the western Carolinas to use the wisdom of the Christian tradition to navigate the rapid social and cultural changes brought about by the onset of the digital age. Through guided readings and discussions, program participants will examine how technology has affected society’s understanding of what it means to be human and explore how to respond to these new cultural developments both theologically and pastorally. The program will also provide participating congregational leaders with the opportunity to design and implement ministries that help congregants understand and address the challenges of living as a Christian in the digital age. At the conclusion of the program, participants will reflect on the lessons they have learned through the process of implementing their ministries and will create a set of principles and best practices that can be shared with other congregations facing similar challenges. Participating congregational leaders will leave the Davenant Institute’s program equipped to answer the contemporary cultural moment with the wisdom of the Christian tradition and to respond in a way that draws their congregants closer to God and to each other.
