Metropolitan Baptist Church
The Collaborative Church Communities for Sustainable Ministry (CCCSM) is an initiative of the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Under the CCCSM, clergy and emerging church leaders from various denominations within the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) areas will have a supportive environment to learn, be coached, and obtain the resources to strengthen the reach, structure, and impact of their churches. CCCSM is a year-long program designed to help congregations assess their state of ministry, map out ways to move forward that are appropriate for them, and ensure that they have the spiritual and natural tools for their congregations to thrive. The program focuses on four pillars: 1) The use of digital technologies to support ministries more effectively. 2) Strengthening ministries that promote healing and address the increasing mental health and wellness needs of congregants. 3) Reaching and nurturing the spiritual lives of young people. 4) Fostering spiritual formation ministries that are relevant to the lives of congregants and, at the same time, connect congregants more deeply to God. This peer-learning collaborative will equip and empower a minimum of 32 congregations with comprehensive, dynamic approaches to ministry, particularly addressing a myriad of issues created and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program will include: 1) Assessment and Customized Improvement Plan 2) Classes and workshops 3) Up to a $5,000 Capacity Building Stipend 4) Team Building; One-on-one coaching 5) Interns from Howard University School of Divinity and/or Wesley Theological Seminary and 6) Annual Learning Opportunities.
