Jesus modeled what it was like to love others in the complexities of life in key ways: journeying with close friends and loving beyond socially constructed barriers, caring for people experiencing poverty, and eating and drinking with those considered of ill repute as well as with community leaders. Jesus’ ability to guide all people toward flourishing by loving them with grace and truth was imitated by the early church in their practice of loving across cultural and socioeconomic differences, and this practice led to communal thriving and growth. Flourishing Together offers an opportunity for churches to relearn those models and better imitate Jesus again.
