Hispanic Access Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that, among other initiatives, supports Latino faith leaders and congregations through its Thriving Congregations initiative, which houses the Iglesias Sanas, Comunidades Sanas (ISCS) program. This program is designed to strengthen the capacity of Latino faith leaders and congregations by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to address the mental and emotional needs of their churches and communities while promoting holistic well-being. Through the program, participating faith leaders have the opportunity to receive Mental Health First Aid certification, participate in monthly educational webinars centered on mental health and well-being, and access culturally and linguistically relevant resources that help increase awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health. Leaders also have the opportunity to host community screenings of Hispanic Access’ feature short film, Historias de Esperanza, creating spaces for meaningful conversations around faith, mental health, hope, and community support. Through these efforts of the Iglesias Sanas Comunidades Sanas program, Hispanic Access seeks to strengthen churches as trusted spaces where individuals and families can find connection, education, support, and pathways to appropriate mental health resources, while equipping faith leaders to foster healthier and more resilient congregations and communities.
