Project Name: The Journey Project
Description:

The Journey Project of the NM Conference of Churches is being developed to offer support to churches in New Mexico by providing them with opportunities to reflect upon their histories, mission, and values; consider the role of the church in the post-COVID world; foster spiritual growth and community building; engage in study that addresses racial biases in our churches and communities; and consider their outward ministries past, present, and future. The study modules include Journey to Community, Journey to Peace, Journey to Reconciliation, and Journey to Generosity. Using a curriculum focused on each annual “Journey,” which includes an eight-week study within local faith communities, a quarterly gathering with a special speaker addressing the assigned topics, an annual offering of a pilgrimage within the state, and a three-day retreat for participating faith leaders, this project aims to achieve four goals: 1) strengthen the ministries within churches, 2) foster existing ministries that are meaningful to the congregation, 3) provide support to faith leaders, and 4) develop new opportunities for the spiritual journey both for local churches and individuals.
