Declare is a church-uniting, city-impacting organization in Dayton, Ohio. For the last five years, we have been building relationships with other church-uniting networks across Ohio and have formed the Good Community Network. Out of that relational network we are managing the Ohio Good Community Project, with the Sagamore Institute functioning as the fiscal and grant sponsor. The approach is to utilize the greatest assets and experience across Ohio and within Sagamore to develop a three-year learning, discovery, and engagement track, which will be facilitated in at least six cities & counties in partnership with local community catalysts, over the next five years. Each congregational learning community will include at least five local congregations as well as other key nonprofit, marketplace and community leaders, diversely representing the communities which they serve. Year 1 will be a 12-month learning journey about church thriving for collaborative impact; Year 2 will involve discovering current work and networks, and discerning gaps and how to fill them; Year 3 will include engaging in multi-congregational, measurable thriving and community flourishing. In addition to these six cities/counties with in-person training and funding support, we will provide in-person and virtual peer-learning opportunities for additional growing church networks who were unable to participate in the personalized program for their own county. The result is that dozens of congregations across Ohio cities and counties will be equipped to thrive by strategically collaborating to impact their communities. We believe that the unified and thriving Church will be an incredible force for hope, healing, community transformation, and flourishing.
