Research evidences the trends and challenges facing congregations today and tomorrow. With aging facilities and diversifying communities, it is essential to learn how embracing communities can allow faith and theological commitments to find new life through community relationships. The Seattle Presbytery therefore seeks to prepare three learning cohorts of five congregations each to be learning communities faithful to their ecclesial and theological commitments, creatively cultivating Christian practices, and informed by the social and cultural context of its communities. In order to participate in God’s transforming work wherein congregations thrive as adaptive and contextual community-based learning organizations, the Seattle Presbytery proposes to develop a four-year learning cohort program that assists congregations in becoming transformational learning communities.
