The Center for Pastor Theologians (CPT) is an interdenominational Protestant ministry that equips pastors to be theologians for today’s complex world. The vision of the CPT is to see thoughtful pastors lead thriving congregations that have a transformative influence in the world. Founded in 2006, the CPT consists of a diverse network of pastors from around the country, both women and men, in churches small and large, from Boston and Los Angeles to Minneapolis and Houston. The CPT draws from over twenty-four different Protestant denominations. Our desire, however, has been to work more directly with the churches served by our network of pastor theologians. So this program is intended to guide two dozen of the churches in our network through The Antioch Process, a learning sequence to help congregations achieve missional clarity for the purpose of institutional vitality. Designed as a yearlong corporate spiritual discernment process, our program will help congregations explore what we call the 4Cs of missional clarity: Context, Congregation, Convictions, and at the intersection of all three, Calling. Inspired by the narrative about the church in Antioch in Acts 13:1-3, we will help congregations thrive by identifying “the work” (v. 2) to which the Spirit is calling them—that they might flourish on mission in this world.
