Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston
The project establishes an educational program aimed at equipping the 62 Greek Orthodox Metropolis parishes throughout New England with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive. The program, which is open to all parishes in the metropolis, commences in five steps. First, parish leadership and clergy receive extensive leadership training necessary to ensure the success of this program. Second, the youth and young adult community are engaged to provide insight into the changing cultural and social contexts of parishes and their neighboring communities. Third, district seminars are hosted twice yearly in each of the nine districts of the metropolis to share knowledge, equip parishes with the tools necessary to research parish makeup, and provide a framework for understanding research findings and creating a path forward. Next, parish teams and the metropolis-level program are evaluated, and finally, key insights and parish efforts are documented, memorialized, and distributed to those who may be interested. Seminarians and students from Hellenic College Holy Cross are heavily involved in supporting this program, and extensive training is developed for and offered to them, thus developing the future lay and ordained ministry leaders of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
